Privacy Policy

In recognition of the importance of properly handling invaluable personal information entrusted to it by its stakeholders, The Nisshin OilliO Group, Ltd., is pressing ahead with the implementation of a compliance program for the protection of personal information. This is part of our broad-based commitment to winning stakeholder trust and support—a commitment that guides us in consistently providing reliable and safe products and services, and in fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities through activities addressing issues ranging from legal compliance to business ethics, the environment and human rights, community service and much more.

To implement this program, we have formulated the following policy and related guidelines for the protection of personal information. All directors and employees shall be fully informed of and be required to observe this policy and related guidelines. Our aim is to be consistently forward by further raising our enterprise value, including also, within the context of the protection of personal information.

  1. Basic Stance
    We comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and other laws, ordinances, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to the handling of personal information.
  2. Collection of Personal Information
    We may collect personal information from individuals through proper and fair means solely for the purposes of use disclosed to them.
  3. Use of Personal Information
    We will not use personal information collected from individuals for purposes other than those initially disclosed.
  4. Personal Information Security Measures
    We will take necessary and reasonable security measures to prevent unauthorized third-party access, loss, deletion, tampering or leakage of personal information collected from individuals.
  5. Consignment of Personal Information
    We will manage and supervise through proper means, as necessary, third parties to whom personal information may be consigned for handling or administrative purposes, to ensure that safeguards are taken to protect the confidentiality of such information.
  6. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
    We will not provide private information collected from individuals to third parties without prior consent.
  7. Framework for Protection of Personal Information
    We will appoint a personal information manager to provide appropriate training to all directors and employees, and to ensure that the importance of compliance with laws, directives and other regulations in connection with personal information are made known to all personnel. Periodic internal audits will be further carried out to determine the status of compliance.
  8. Revision of Personal Information Protection Policy and Related Guidelines
    In light of laws and directives, internal audit findings, business conditions and other factors, we will continuously update and revise its personal information protection policy and related guidelines.
  9. Exceptions
    Under the following circumstances stipulated in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, we may take following action in accordance with the purport of this law, without being bound to the above restrictions, under the supervision of the personal information manager:

    ・Action is required by law; ・Action is required to prevent damage to life, health, or property if it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person involved; ・Action is particularly necessary to enhance public health or ensure a wholesome upbringing of children if it is difficult to obtain the consent of the person involved; ・Action is required when cooperation is necessary with a national government organization, local government body or other party commissioned by such to carry out a legally stipulated duty, and obtaining consent from the person involved may obstruct, or threatens to obstruct, the execution of the aforementioned duty.

    Individuals seeking the disclosure, correction, cessation of use, etc., of their personal data in our possession should personally direct their questions or complaints to the Help Desk. We will respond appropriately.
