Tax Policy
The Corporate Philosophy of The Nisshin OilliO Group (the “Group”) includes the aims “to contribute to the development of people, society, and the economy by maximizing our corporate value” and “to conduct ourselves as a responsible member of global society.” With regard to taxes, we comply with laws and regulations and pay taxes appropriately in the countries and regions where we operate. Through these efforts, we fulfill our corporate social responsibility and contribute to the social and economic development of those countries and regions.
1. Tax compliance
The Group complies with tax laws and regulations, tax treaties, and international taxation rules. We file and pay taxes appropriately in all countries and regions where we operate.
2. Tax governance
Each Group company is responsible for complying with this Tax Policy and relevant tax laws and regulations, and takes ownership of handling its own tax matters.
The Nisshin OilliO Group, Ltd. establishes and maintains the Group-wide tax governance system managed by the Corporate Officer in charge of finance.
3. Transfer pricing taxation measures
The Group complies with the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines and the tax laws of each country. In international transactions within the Group, we strive to allocate profits appropriately in line with each company’s functions and risks, taking into account arm’s length prices. We also appropriately prepare and submit transfer pricing documentation in accordance with the laws and regulations of each country.
4. Tax planning
The Group does not utilize tax havens to evade taxes or engage in transactions lacking economic rationality. We also respect the spirit of tax laws and regulations in each country and region, and appropriately utilize tax incentives that align with our business objectives in an effort to optimize tax costs and enhance our corporate value.
5. Relationships with tax authorities
The Group responds cooperatively to requests from tax authorities in each country and region and strives to build trust with them. When the applicable tax treatment is unclear, we seek confirmation in advance from the relevant tax authorities as needed and take appropriate action.
